Let me not date back to that time,
The time that had us.
The time that embraced us,
Not as two individuals,
But as one.
As if our hearts had merged into each other,
Just like the colours of a rainbow that forget their boundaries,
And open up their arms,
To be one.
The shade they form, the hue they create,
Is their own.
Unmatched. Compassionate.
But then someone tells me,
That love is not enough.
Let me not date back to that time,
The time that passed with our collars smelling of each other.
The time which made our hands sense oneness.
For the touch has remained forever,
Just in case forever isn’t bound to time.
When our souls were clearer than glass,
As if our love could sustain us a lifetime.
But then someone tells me,
That love is never enough.
And just as everything is about to fall apart,
How can I help living the time that has brought me here?
Alone.
The colours have pulled back their arms,
They were never meant to be one.
The cologne meeting the air,
Leaving the collars unwanted.
Hands reluctant,
Conversations frosted.
You can’t see through the glass now,
For its sooted with a loss.
Promises lost, souls shattered.
Tears not wiped, shrieks unheard.
So here I sit alone,
Bringing my lost self back,
In this quiet balcony,
With a cup of coffee that has embraced me,
Like you refused to do.
Away from the crowd that reminds me of you,
Absorbing the fact that I’m stronger than this,
Because someone told me,
That love can never be enough.
And indeed, it’ll never be enough.
