Submission Guidelines

The Redstockings Chronicle aims to publish literary thoughts, feelings, cries, and everything else. We wish to uplift the voices of students from all over the world. Submissions are currently closed.

Guidelines and other details:

0.  All our editions are themed. Please incorporate the theme in whatsoever way you wish to. The theme for this edition broadly is Evolving, and this edition is titled Mehfil Barkhast Hui which literally means The Meeting Has Dispersed.

The title comes from Ameer Minai's ghazal which has been turned into a song by Kavita Seth for the series A Suitable Boy. Here, mehfil is not just any meeting but a gathering which speaks to the soul and its pains- it is consoling. After the dispersal, there is a remnant grief over that lost warmth. It is similar to the nostalgia/grief we experience when we witness the dispersal/slow disappearance of consoling and comforting things like sunset, poetry, going away of a loved one etc.

Mehfil Barkhast Hui aptly captures the heavy feeling of that fleeting moment and for this edition, we wish to curate more such feelings. The prompts include but are not limited to reflections post pandemic/ nostalgia and grief over things that we had to say goodbye to, like the sunset disappearing/ things from the past and their relevance in the contemporary world/ a new perspective of looking at celebrations/ growing/ the start of something new/ continuity/ autumnal sighs/ evolution/ brevity of life/ and everything that goes on in our brains when we sit with our friends and bring up "remember those days when..."
