Aishwarya Jayan: President, Council 2019-2020

Hello everyone!

This is a new dawn for Redstockings. As a new academic session begins, so grows our hopes and ambitions. The past year has been a wonderful roller-coaster ride for us. While our enthusiasm to try new things within the society proved extremely fruitful, it never failed to give us an equally worthy journey of introspection and learning.

On a personal level, it led me to question several of my methods. Yet, in the end, it showed me the light to new, successful ones. I'm extremely grateful to all council members and volunteers who worked together to bring the taste of success to Redstockings. It might not have been possible without you.

As a new session marks its beginning, I wish for us to stay together and work together through every challenge that we might face on our way. It is extremely important for us to remember that unity is our pillar and that there is almost nothing that it cannot achieve.

We strongly believe in the power of discussions. That is why we open before our members a space where they can share their opinions without fear and learn that disagreement is a part of the process. Expressing one's true opinion should not take a moment of hesitation. When done with respect, it is what makes every discussion healthy, productive and worthy of the time spent. It leads to good decisions that do not favour only one side of the coin, which in turn promotes our peaceful functioning. We shall always abide by this.

I hope that Redstockings will continue to nourish its members with team spirit, confidence, positivity and strength to make their own way in the world as it has done for me. I believe in its immense power to influence positively and guide one to wisdom. Wishing the best and a wonderful session ahead,
