From the President’s Desk

While exploring the art museums in Delhi, I stumbled upon a profound quote by the renowned artist Frida Kahlo that resonated deeply with me: “I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration.” This resonates deeply with me, as I ponder the question: can AI

generated art truly be considered "real" art? As the president of our literary society, I firmly believe that art is an inherently human endeavour, born from the depths of our experiences, emotions, and perspectives.

The true nature of art lies in its human essence the imperfections, the vulnerabilities, and the visceral connections that stem from the artist's soul. When we remove the “human element”, do we not risk stripping art of its authenticity? AI generated art, no matter how impressive, lacks the emotional resonance and personal touch that a human creator brings to the table.

AI algorithms can mimic styles, recognize patterns, and even generate novel pieces, but can they truly “Create”? Or are they merely sophisticated mimics, devoid of the emotional depth that defines human artistry? The question is not whether AI art is technically impressive, but whether it can evoke the same emotional response, the same sense of connection, as a piece born from human experience.

As we delve into this topic in our chronicle, I invite you to join me in exploring the boundaries of art and AI. Let us ponder the implications of AI generated art, and whether it can truly be considered a reflection of human creativity. Can AI art inspire, provoke, and move us in the same way that human art does? Or is it a pale imitation, lacking the essence of our shared humanity?

I welcome you to engage with the thoughts, perspectives, and critiques that will unfold in our chronicle, as we venture through the complex relationship between art and AI. Together, let us question, ponder, and explore the very nature of “Creation” and the “Creator” itself.
