AI: Replicator of the Human Mind

The term “art” has been defined as the expression or application of human

creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as a painting. My

definition of art includes the essence of human touch, art for me means

reminiscing my childhood days wherein I would sit hours on end over a painting,

trying to bring it to perfection, leaving it a little imperfect at the end to signify my

humanly spirit.

My idea of art meant comfort. It held for me a significance that I cannot begin to understand neither explain for the comfort of playing with the many colors I had was equivalent to a strong footing in midst of a storm. The child-like glee I would feel when it came to choosing the “right” colours to fill in the many blanks waiting for me, giving me a chance to dictate how they should be. My canvas gave me a sense of control that many might crave at a tender age.

This playful essence, this craving for colours in an otherwise dull reality is a way of expressing how similar the human mind is while still remaining so extraordinary in its own capacity, proven once given a chance.

From my perspective, art is subjective, the artist’s mind a palette of colors and the world its canvas. Humanity cannot be separated from the art of creation for the human race is a blueprint of its source of generation, the creator. The creation and its creator cannot be separated in the sense the human cannot be separated

from art.

While AI might prove successful in “generating” colorful picturesque models, it is merely mimicking the creator, the human. In this regard, it is a deception and a cheap imitation lacking originality and the flamboyance of the human mind. It has no anguish hidden in its planes, it lacks the joy of understanding and decoding, it has no touch of the reality and the creativity. It is merely a generation of colours placed in a manner to make it appealing to the naked eye, having no “soul” of its own.

AI is a replicator of the Human Mind in this regard. It lacks the purpose and the

emotion needed to create, from my understanding, AI generated art cannot and

should not be mistaken for real art because it lacks the originality needed to serve as a model for contemporaries and the future. The world is beautiful for it houses many merchants of the creator, leading their lives with a flare of imagination. When this imagination is lost, the human race would have truly succumbed to the dull material world outside.
