For a land of 1,393,123,813 - a number too large to speak of in words - every lane in every colony, inside every home, every slum, every shelter, by the broken roads or the peaceful coasts, there lives a story behind every face. In this world that we live in today, each of these faces stay unexplored. Literature, however, gives you and I, a medium to explore, listen and let our stories, experiences, and accounts free. ‘Narratives’, a special edition of The Redstockings Chronicle, published 10th August 2021, explores these experiences and brings them to you to sit back- read, listen and understand.
However, ‘Narratives’ is more than just about stories. It is an ode to the diverse creative and personal perspectives, it is a way of viewing the world but through someone else’s lenses - a rare phenomena, especially in the current times where every person is screaming her own story at the same time, where no story has clarity because it is all then a single muddled noise, where everyone has something to say yet no ear to listen. In a world where chaos prevails and stories go unheard, creativity and imagination is locked for there is no one to heed to these creative worlds we frame up sitting in a metro or walking through a not so busy street.
‘Narratives’ attempts to bring rain to the almost barren and unheeded creative worlds - a world where symphonies creates stories, a world where you could write a letter to that one writer or character, a world where Stephen King writes Romeo and Juliet or Harry Potter never goes to Hogwarts, a world where you could lend your voice to William Shakespeare’s powerful words.
This edition shall take you through accounts and experiences that have been blended with creativity. All the pieces have won accolades in the annual literary fest of Bharati College, ‘Melange 2021’ and have been carefully picked up by the esteemed jury; our effort here is directed towards making the edition a creative treat for the reader in you.
